I’ve been teaching online for over four years and I love it!

Having taught in person at my studio in the San Francisco/Bay Area for 35 years, COVID challenged me to transform my studio from in-person to virtual teaching. It turned out to be a perfect fit.

I became inspired by music technology while I was a graduate student at Stanford University. The topic was in its infancy then so I wrote my book, Electrify Your Studio!, for teachers wanting to integrate technology into their own traditional studios. I was the Technology Editor for Keyboard Companion and have had articles published there and in American Music Teacher as well as in other music journals. Online teaching was a natural evolution of my teaching.

I have B.A. and M.A. degrees in music from Mills College in addition to my work at Stanford. I’m now living in Auburn, WA. I have two daughters, two grandkids, and two dogs — a dachshund named Luther and a basset hound named Karl.
