My studio emphasizes love of playing and playing forever!
Nothing pleases me more than former students telling me how they enjoy playing pieces for friends and family. I want them to learn to read well so that 25 years from now they can pick up a piece of sheet music and sit down and enjoy playing.
Three examples of students who made me grin like the proverbial Cheshire Cat:
David telling me how, on a trip to Italy with his family, he sat down and played the piano in a little restaurant;
Kate explaining how piano keeps her sane as a break from studying (a senior now at UCBerkeley—so there’s lots of stress!); and,
Kiran who sat down and played his recital pieces at a piano on the street (a promo from a local piano store).
Lessons are fun! We’ll go over pieces from the last week, sight read new works, and play games.
Lessons are always a positive experience and students leave happy. That why I’ve loved this profession so long and so much!
